How to Reach Us
The project is expected to be completed early in 2020 with a grand opening in the spring of 2020.
This is a project funded by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts through the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and the town of Erving and other fundraising efforts. The project is 8,294 sq. ft. of new construction.
Planning for a new library began in 2010. The project manager and the architect were hired in 2013. The planning phase was completed in January 2017 and a grant application for $2.7 million was submitted by Library Director, Barbara Friedman and granted in February of 2018.
This building was designed by Johnson Roberts Associates. The chief architect for this project is Philip O'Brien. Erving's project managers are Daniel Pallotta and Robert Todisco of P3, Inc. They represent the town during all phases of the project from planning until after completion. Nick Jablonski will serve as the Clerk of the Works. Marois Construction was granted the contract in March of 2019. Jeff Bouyea represents the company onsite.
The Library Director and Erving residents have been actively involved in the planning process since 2013. A successful planning grant allowed the Feasibility Committee to hire the architect and project manager and consider three possible locations for the library. Residents who served for three years on that Committee were: Jacquie Boyden, Rebecca Hubbard, Elaine Stafford, Michele Turner and Dennis Wonsey.
In 2016, another citizen's advisory committee was formed, the Library Building Committee, which includes Barbara Friedman, Library Director and Erving residents: Marcia Bernard, Jacquie Boyden, Sara Campbell, Rebecca Hubbard, Cynthia and Rupert Roy-Clark, Deb Smith and Charles Zilinski,
