Patrol Officer Search

The Town of Erving, Massachusetts is seeking community policing-oriented candidates for the full-time, benefitted position of Patrol Officer to perform routine and specialized law enforcement work to protect lives and property, prevent and suppress crimes within the community, and carry out the enforcement of federal, state, and local laws. This is a 40-hour week position, primarily 2nd and 3rd shifts including weekends.

Qualifications Include

The successful candidate must be at least 21 years old, must have successfully completed a Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) Full-time police academy, or Bridge Academy, possess an associate degree, preferably in Criminal Justice or equivalent. Candidates shall be required to meet specific medical and physical requirements, including successful completion of the Recruit Academy (ROC) Entry-level Fitness Standards, an extensive background and psychological examination. Must have a valid LTC class A and possess a valid driver’s license. Preference considered for current POST Commission certified candidates. Military veterans that meet the qualifications are encouraged to apply.

Compensation is based on experience and qualifications, with base wage rates between $27.07/hour and $34.28/hour, in accordance with the NEPBA Local 121 agreement. Excellent benefits include education incentive, vacation leave, sick leave, military leave, 12 paid holidays, 3 paid personal days, and health insurance with an employer contribution towards the premium of 84%.
