The upcoming season is a busy one in the Town of Erving; there is a long list of projects to complete before the ground freezes and snow falls.  Some of these projects may temporarily disrupt vehicular or pedestrian traffic.  Your patience and understanding is appreciated.

Arch Street & Route 2

A sewer main will be upgraded in late September through November. Expect alternating one-lane traffic on Route 2 east and west bound in Erving Center for approximately one week starting September 20 7AM-3PM.  Police details will be utilized to direct traffic as efficiently and safely as possible.

Papermill Road

The sewer will be upgraded and a pump station will be installed.  The road will be closed for approximately 1 week in October and traffic will be detoured around it. More specific dates will be provided when available.

Flagg Hill Road

The sewer will be upgraded in October – November.  The interconnection with the collection system on North Street may temporarily interrupt traffic.

Central Street, Park Street, Pratt Street, & Gunn Street

Work includes stump removal, tree planting, sidewalk replacement, and paving a small parking area off of Reynolds Street.

Church Street Bridge

Due to safety concerns from MassDOT the bridge is required to be reduced to a single travel lane & a 3 ton weight limit for vehicles.  The commercial truck exclusion remains for Church Street and North Street.  Detour signs will be installed to direct pass-through traffic to remain on Route 2 until they reach Route 63 or Interstate 91.

Poplar Mountain Road

Temporary repairs will take place to mitigate the effects of July’s wash out until permanent repairs can be engineered and proposed to the Town.
