Church Street over Keyup Brook Bridge Replacement Design Public Hearing

What is happening?
Church Street provides a connector from Rte. 2 to the south to North Street to the north. The bridge structure is currently open to one lane due to the bridge’s poor condition. The project scope includes the replacement of the existing bridge with full-depth roadway replacement up to 73 feet south of the bridge and 32 feet north of the bridge. The purpose of the Virtual Design Public Hearing is to allow MassDOT to present this project to you, seek your feedback, and opinions, and hear your concerns. Comments will be considered to the maximum extent practicable as we progress the design.
How will this affect you?
This project will entail a detour of traffic during construction. For trucks it is anticipated a 20-mile detour will be implemented and for cars less than ½ mile. Both temporary and permanent easements will be secured to build the new bridge. Public Utility Easements will also be secured.
