Hometown Heroes Banners Installed

Example of Hometown Heroes Banners installed on streetlight post

In the spring 2022 the Erving Select Board launched the Hometown Heroes banner recognition program, inviting the submission of applications for review.  The program is intended to honor Veterans, native of the Town of Erving or who currently reside in Erving, and have been honorably discharged from the military, or are currently serving.  Banners exhibit the image of the Veteran/ Service Member, branch of service, years of service, and campaign served in.  In advance of Veterans Day, the installation of the first 24 banners has been completed.  Banners have been installed at the Erving Senior & Community Center, Erving Elementary School, and along East Main Street.

A special thank you to all of the Veterans and their families that worked with our office to complete the designs, to Paula & Gary Betters for promoting the program, working with Veterans to complete applications and consulting on designs, and to Bets Sicard for compiling all of the information necessary for the designers.

The Town is already accepting new applications for a future installation.
