Erving has been awarded an Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) Planning Grant

MVP

The Commonwealth’s Executive Office of Energy & Environmental Affairs has awarded the Town of Erving a planning grant for the Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness program.  The program will allow the Town to work with local and regional stakeholders to:

  • Understand how the community is impacted by climate change
  • Identify existing and future vulnerabilities and strengths
  • Develop and prioritize actions for the community
  • Identify opportunities to act to reduce risk and build resilience

Erving has identified storm water management and culvert maintenance as a priority concern as part of this process as residents report quick moving storms with increasing water runoff.

Additionally, the planning process will allow the Town to work on the update to the Local Hazards Mitigation plan that expires in 2018.

Philip Wonkka, Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director, will serve as the lead on this project and the Franklin Regional Council of Governments has been contracted to provide technical expertise as a state-certified MVP planner.
