How do I get a Library Card?

Residents of Massachusetts with proper identification are eligible for library cards. Library cards are free but applicants must show identification at the Main Desk.  A Massachusetts driver's license or a state issued ID with a current address or a student ID can be used for identification. New residents that have not yet received an updated license may show proof of identity by presenting their license and an envelope mailed to them by a reputable company such as a utility bill, or mail from a bank or government agency.

Parents or guardians may apply for a child’s card by presenting their proper identification. Although parents may decide to get a card for their child sooner, Erving library cards are traditionally issued to children on entering the first grade when they come to the library with their teacher for a special story time.
