Senior Work-off Program

The Select Board is happy to announce the Fiscal Year 2024 Senior Work-off Program which begins on October 1, 2023. This program was established at Town Meeting under the provisions of Massachusetts General Law Chapter 59 § 5K. The Town can authorize up to ten (10) eligible citizens to work under this program.

The program is open to all Erving property owners who are sixty (60) years of age or older and whose primary residence is located at the Erving property for which tax relief is sought. Interested residents must complete the program application to have their eligibility verified by the Assessor’s Office. Only one tax credit can be issued per household under this program.

Eligible participants can receive an abatement of up to $750 per year on their real estate taxes by working for the Town in a variety of capacities. The abatement is calculated at the State minimum wage, which is currently $10 per hour, for each hour worked under the program.

The Town has open positions to work for the Library, the Senior Center, the Recreation Commission, and the Town Hall. This is a great opportunity for Erving residents to share their talents and skills with the community!

If you have questions, contact the Select Board's Office by email and by phone (413) 422-2800.
